Strawberry Cheesecake Puff Pastry Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Kawan Puff Pastry Sheet
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Combine the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar and vanilla extract in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate small mixing bowl, combine the strawberries, granulated sugar and lemon juice.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface. Use a rolling pin to roll thin.
  5. Cut the puff pastry dough in heart shapes.
  6. Discard the scraps of puff pastry dough between the cut out hearts.
  7. Whisk the egg and water together.
  8. Brush the edges of each heart with the whisked egg.
  9. Fill half of the hearts with a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture.
  10. Add the strawberry mixture on top of the cream cheese.
  11. Place the other half of the puff pastry hearts on top. Use your fingers or a fork to seal the edges shut together.
  12. Place the heart shaped pies on a baking sheet. Brush the tops with the egg wash.
  13. Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  14. Feel free to dust a little powdered sugar on top when they come out of the oven.
